Hello everyone and welcome to Xanpress! Thank you for finding me, and checking out the site. We’re stilling working on things to improve the site, but we’re ready to go. Let’s make some comics!
Who’s Marc Adona and what’s a Xanpress? I’m a native of Washington D.C who has always loved comics. I discovered comic books when I was a kid, doing a grocery run for my grandmother. I saw a rack filled from top to bottom with these little colorful books. My mind was blown instantly. In the fourth grade, I decided that I was going to draw comics for the rest of my life…the rest was history.
Here I am, years later making my own comics under my very own publishing company Xanpress. I wanted the opportunity to create comics in genres that I wanted to see, with people I didn’t see represented.
Telling fantastical stories in the realm of science fiction, fantasy, and supernatural. Of course, not limited to just those themes, just a bridge to possibilities to let the imagination soar.
I began publishing my own comics in 2004 with Mischief and Mayhem #0. It was an introduction to my first character Kalista Victora, on her lone road of vengeance through the lawless wasteland. I followed up with a limited 4 issue mini-series called Mayhem. The first book premiered at the Small Press Expo(SPX) in 2007.
In 2009, I published a anotholgy called Burst, that would feature up coming creator owned artist. I collected my original comic series Mayhem into a graphic novel in 2012.
Even though I’ve been publishing creator owned comics since 2004. Xanpress officially launched with my fantasy adventure series, Wandering Vagrants in 2013. At the time, the comic industry seem pretty dark in content, and I really wanted to do something lighter and fun. Which birthed Wandering Vagrants.
The whole concept of Wandering Vagrants came from a 24 Hour comic idea. You basically have 24hrs to write and draw a comic from start to finish. I had such an awesome time working on the 24hr comic, I wanted to experience that feeling working on a comic book everyday.
I’ve published two volumes of Wandering Vagrants and a source book. All which you can purchase in my store.
In 2017, I decided to take a break. I needed to step away from comics, was burnt out. On my sabbatical, I started crafting ideas that had been floating around. I decided to take a break from Wandering Vagrants and explore another love of mine, science fiction.
I started asking…What life would look like if we left earth? How would other species treat us if we were the cause of our planets destruction? And after that… Zavion the last human city was born.
And that’s just the start. You can see a preview of my new graphic novel series Zavion the last human city book one on the site. Zavion the last human city will take Xanpress to a new frontier and I hope you’ll be along for the ride!
The adventure starts now!
